September 11th Shrine Of The Sacred Heart of Jesus

Donate

As you can see, Mount Manresa and the shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a rare gem in the chaos of Staten Island that should not be destroyed. The Jesuits are currently in contract with the Savo Brothers Development Company, a Staten Island builder. The property is zoned for townhouses.

We are working with an attorney to stop the sale and focusing on efforts to have it saved as a public park. We are looking at all avenues of protection such as environmental issues, landmarking the buildings, and rezoning the area, which costs money.

We are seeking donations to cover our legal and expert costs and the cost of getting the word out on our efforts (tee-shirts, posters, etc.).  Our long-term goal is to try to return the original statues to the shrine and make Mount Manresa a memorial park to the victims of 9/11.

If you would like to donate to help with these efforts to Save Mount Manresa,  please make a check payable to Our Lady of Graces, P.O. Box 50086, Staten Island, N.Y. 10305.  Please make sure you write “Save Mount Manresa Fund” in the memo.
